Who We Are
The Founders of Doo Diligence
We’re Jason and Bethany, two animal-loving individuals who believe that every pet and their person deserves reliable, stress-free care, no matter the reason.
We understand that life gets hectic. Between work, family, health, and everything in between, it can be hard to find time for it all. Whether you need help keeping the yard clean, making sure your dog gets their walk, or having someone you trust care for your pets while you’re away, we’re here to help.
We show up reliably, without judgment, and treat your pets and your home with care and respect. At the end of the day, pets are family, and they deserve to be cared for like it.
Meet the Team
Bethany
Owner
-
Bethany has loved all animals, but especially dogs, for as long as she can remember. Back in elementary school, she made a presentation to convince her parents she was responsible enough for a pet. A year later, after her first pet-sitting experience with a Shiba Inu, her family adopted Zoey, a rescue Sato dog from Puerto Rico; Zoey quickly became Bethany’s best friend. When she passed away in August 2025, this business became a way to honor her memory. Her nose print is now part of our logo.
-
Bethany earned her Public Health degree from Towson University 3 years ago, with a focus in community health. She is a certified health education specialist (CHES) and certified in teaching two different mental health literacy trainings.
While earning her degree, Bethany began walking dogs, doing drop-in visits, and staying overnight with pets through Rover and Wag. In 2021, she joined Purr'N'Pooch in Tinton Falls, as a receptionist, where she managed reservations, client inquiries, and medical records. This role helped her gain valuable insight into the behind-the-scenes side of pet care.
Over the years, she has continued expanding her knowledge of the pet care industry to provide safe, positive experiences for every pet she meets.
-
Bethany takes on clients for 3 services dog walks, drop-in visits, and overnight stays. She also handles all scheduling, invoicing, and social media/marketing; most client communication goes through her as well.
-
Outside of pet care, Bethany volunteers where she teaches emotional wellness to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In her free time, Bethany enjoys reading, dancing, coloring, and playing cozy video games like Animal Crossing. She is also beginning to try new hobbies, like crocheting.
Jason
Lead Pet Care Specialist
-
Jason is a lifelong animal lover who grew up surrounded by pets, including dogs, cats, birds, fish, and even a bearded dragon. Two of his favorite dog breeds are border collies and corgis.
-
His hands-on experience began in 2014 at Sunnyside Farm, where he worked with horses for six years and discovered how rewarding it can be to care for animals of all kinds.
In 2019, Jason completed his education at Red Bank Animal Hospital to become a veterinary assistant.
After working at a few different daycare/boarding facilities, he became a shift leader at Purr'N'Pooch Pet Resorts in 2021. He stayed in that role for two years, which also happens to be where he and Bethany first met.
In 2022, Jason also began working as a veterinary assistant and receptionist at Two Rivers Animal Hospital in Little Silver, where he deepened his skills in animal handling, communication, and client support.
Jason is currently attending HVAC school and values having a balance between hands-on technical work and caring for animals.
-
Due to his prior experience as a veterinary assistant, Jason plays a vital role in the business by providing knowledgeable support. He serves as the go-to resource for any animal health concerns, offering informed guidance.
Jason handles the poop-scooping side of the business, which is the first service Doo Diligence ever offered. He also does walks, drop-ins, and overnight care.
Although Jason is not the owner of Doo Diligence, he serves as Bethany’s second-in-command and key support partner. They collaborate closely, bouncing ideas off each other on pricing, discounts, and strategy…while he also assists with logistics and day-to-day operations.
-
Outside of work, Jason enjoys playing video games, especially RPGs, watching anime, and relaxing with a good movie. He also loves cooking new meals, especially Asian cuisine.
Kevin
Pet Care Specialist
-
Kevin has always oved animals and never lived without them! He grew up taking care of dogs and cats, and even chickens and ducks. He also often looked after the pets of relatives and friends.
-
His work background is mainly in dental office management, though he also has experience in a variety of fields. He is also very tech-savvy! He can work pretty well with people due to his management background, though he definitely prefers animals.
-
Kevin provides walks and drop-in visits for Doo Diligence, based in the Middletown area. He also contributes to the business by supporting website management and social media operations.
-
Walking dogs and playing with animals is fun for Kevin, but sometimes he plays video games with friends or watches shows.
Melissa
Pet Care Specialist
-
Melissa’s first dog, Benji, came into her life and quickly became her heart. Not long after, he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. Walking through that experience with him changed the way she saw time and priorities. Watching Benji fight -and beat it- inspired Melissa to simplify her life, focus more on what truly matters, and ultimately choose a career with happiness in mind.
-
Originally from Miami, Melissa moved to southern Monmouth County three years ago with her husband. She spent over a decade working in finance and banking as a financial advisor.
While she still enjoys helping friends and family with budgeting and financial planning, stepping away from that career allowed her to create a life with more balance and time for volunteer work and meaningful service in her community.
-
Melissa provides walks and drop-in visits for Doo Diligence, based in Monmouth County. She helps drive the business forward by sharing ideas, applying her skills, and supporting key operations, including creating an organizational system.
-
Melissa is a proud dog mom to Benji and understands how deeply pets are part of the family. In her free time, she enjoys knitting, sewing, caring for her growing collection of houseplants, thrifting for unique finds, and studying Japanese with her husband.
